In the last 5000 years, organized religions have dominated culture and politics. In this live review, we break down the defining characteristics of major world religions and discuss how they affect culture. Religions can be universalizing, like Christianity or Buddhism, and ethnic religions, like Judaism or Hinduism. Some religions are polytheistic, which means they believe in many gods, while others are monotheistic and believe in one God. Each world religion also has various branches, denominations, and/or sects based on different interpretations of the tenements. In the video, we’ll dig deeper into Abrahamic, East Asian, Indigenous, other religions, and even non-religious traditions!
