Animal Behavior
Adaptation refers to the long-term evolutionary changes in the physical or behavioral traits of a species that enhance its survival and reproduction in a specific environment. In contrast, acclimation is the short-term physiological or behavioral adjustments that an individual organism makes in response to changing environmental conditions. While adaptations occur over generations through natural selection, acclimation happens within the lifetime of an organism and does not involve genetic changes.
