Danbury Baptists

Definition

The Danbury Baptists were a religious minority group in Connecticut who wrote a letter to Thomas Jefferson expressing their concerns about religious freedom. Jefferson's response, mentioning the "wall of separation," is often referred to as his "Danbury letter."
