National Guard: This is part of the reserve components of the United States Armed Forces. It is often considered part of our modern-day "militia."
Militia Act (1903): This act established federal standards for National Guard units and essentially created what we know today as our modern National Guard system.
Reserve Forces: These are military members who aren't in active duty but can be called upon when necessary.
