Slave Trade: The business or process of procuring, transporting, and selling slaves, particularly African people to the New World prior to 19th century abolition movements.
Indentured Servitude: A system where an individual signs a contract (indenture), agreeing to work for another person for a specified period in return for transportation expenses and maintenance. Unlike slaves, indentured servants are freed after fulfilling their contracts.
