Menelik II: The Emperor of Ethiopia from 1889 to his death in 1913 who successfully resisted European colonization during the Scramble for Africa.
Haile Selassie I: The last emperor of Ethiopia who ruled from 1930 until he was overthrown by a military coup in 1974. He is revered as a messiah figure by Rastafarians.
