Spanish-American War

Definition

A conflict between Spain and the United States in 1898, triggered by American involvement in Cuba's struggle for independence from Spain. The war ended with a decisive American victory leading to U.S.'s acquisition of territories such as Puerto Rico, Guam, and Philippines.
