Compromise of 1850: The Compromise of 1850 was a series of laws passed by Congress in order to address tensions between free states and slave states. It included provisions such as allowing California to enter the Union as a free state and implementing a stricter Fugitive Slave Act.

It admitted Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state, while also prohibiting slavery above the 36ยฐ30' parallel line in future territories acquired from France.
Great Compromise: The Great Compromise, also known as the Connecticut Compromise, was a solution proposed during the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
