Definition

Flapper culture was a rebellious youth subculture that emerged during the 1920s in America. Flappers were young women who challenged traditional societal norms by embracing unconventional behaviors such as wearing short skirts, bobbing their hair, drinking alcohol openly, smoking cigarettes in public places, dancing provocatively (like the Charleston), and seeking personal freedom.
