Definition

General William Tecumseh Sherman was a Union general during the American Civil War known for his aggressive and innovative tactics. He is best remembered for his 'March to the Sea,' a military campaign in which he led Union forces from Atlanta, Georgia to Savannah, Georgia, destroying Confederate infrastructure and resources along the way.
