Definition

Islam is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion articulated by the Quran, which Muslims believe to be the verbatim word of God (Allah), and by the teachings and normative examples (called the Sunnah, composed of accounts called Hadith) of Muhammad, considered by them to be the last prophet of God. In political science, particularly in the context of governing regimes, Islam can influence laws, social norms, and government structures within Islamic states or countries with significant Muslim populations.
