Ashurbanipal was the last strong king of the Assyrian Empire, reigning from 668 to 627 BCE. He is notable for his military conquests, cultural achievements, and the establishment of one of the ancient world's first libraries in Nineveh, which housed a vast collection of cuneiform tablets and texts, preserving much of Mesopotamian literature and knowledge.
