AP Psychology
Unit 2 – Biological Basis of Behavior
Topic 2.3
How has the understanding of the role of neural plasticity in learning and memory evolved?
The belief that neural plasticity didn't exist at all, was disproved by modern research.
It was widely accepted as a concept since ancient times with no changes in understanding.
Originally believed to only occur during sleep, now understood to happen anytime.
From previously thought to be fixed post-childhood, it is now known that it can change throughout life.
