AP US History
Unit 7 – Conflict in the Early 20th Century, 1890–1945
Topic 7.2
How does the imperialism of the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries differ from European imperialism during the same period?
Unlike European powers, America didn't establish any colonies overseas.
European powers did not use military force but the US did to enforce its policies.
The US only colonized for economic gain whereas Europe sought both political and economic control.
The US primarily focused on areas in the Western Hemisphere, while Europe expanded globally.
