The "Global Middle Ages" is a topic among historians of the period from 300 CE - 1600 CE with implications for World History teachers. World History teachers can cover more of the world if they avoid Eurocentrism. Important developments, such as Indian Ocean Trade, can be more global by panning out and including more areas, such as East Africa and South East Asia. We will discuss resources and lesson plans that include many parts of the world and demonstrate interregional connections. Compelling visuals, including a double-headed turquoise snake, can draw students into this time period.
