Because language is a part of our identity and culture, it is studied by human geographers in terms of landscape and diffusion. Languages are organized into families such as Indo-European, which includes Germanic and Romance languages. Africa is the most linguistically diverse region on Earth with nearly 2000 different languages spoken, which has added to the political complexity of the region. English is the most globally diffused language and is often used as a lingua franca. Language is deeply connected to culture through dialects and isoglosses as well. In this review, we’ll cover all the topics you need to know about language and culture.
